Why aren't you using the flywheel from your Mustang then?

Hey 93stang! I just wanted to give you kudos for doing the turbo coupe to mustang swap! I'm doing basically the same thing. I'm taking a 1986 thunderbird and putting its engine, t-5 tranny, wiring computer, and eventually the rear end in an 1988 mustang notch back. Keep at it, and keep asking questions, I'm learning a lot!

here are some pics for reference (courtesy of SVOCA)

Note that you should use Ford ATF for lube vise gearbox oil. It takes right at 2-3/4 quarts.

I also included a pic of the driver's side where the reverse fork retainer "plug" is. DO NOT remove this thing or you will be removing the trans to remedy that mistake.

Leaving it in and trying to mate the engine back up will be a huge pain in the backside.

What Navy said. Pull it all out and clean it up while it is out. Then bolt it all together and put it in as a unit.

I have a Mustang 2.3 flywheel and bell housing and a '88 Turbo Coupe flywheel and bell housing sitting on the garage floor. The flywheels are the same diameter although the TC clutch is 3/4" bigger. The 2.3L Mustang bell housing clears the TC flywheel and clutch. The two bell housings are different due to the one being cable and one being hydraulic. I am going to sell off the TC bell housing and use the Mustang bell housing with the bigger Turbo Coupe clutch set up.

Ok yesterday i pulled the gas tank and realised that the top of the fuel pumps are diff (the metal plate I mean) so I was pissed because i wasted my time but now thinking about it cant i just pull the pump itself off the bracket and put it on the one for the stang? If so I'm a Tard

Years ago I replaced the fuel pump in my 5.0 and it came as only the pump, not the bracket, so the pumps can be taken off the bracket and replaced with another pump.
