Unhappy 1989 Mustang 2.3L Smog failure help!

my 89' 2.3l is not passing smog! i've gotten a major tune up and didnt pass. they told me that my NO's were too high. average is 6-800, mine was about 1200-1400. i replaced my EGR and it went up even more! some one help me soon!

was your car fully warmed up did you change your pcv yet?

ya. my car was fully warmed up when i took it after i changed the EGR. i havent changed anything else on my car.

Default Check the codes.

There are a lot of things that you can do that might help. Try the air filter and pcv valve first. Since you had a "major tune up" those may have already been changed. O2 sensors can also cause problems. Pull the codes and see if anything comes up.

i actually know a few shops in sacramento that will pass you regrdless of your actual emissions. few bucks in there pockets a slip later and your all set

hell the first thing you should do is move out of that communist state and go somewhere where they don't have emission tests-thats the biggest crap i have ever heard- are you burning any oil what so ever?-do you have blue smoke coming out the tail pipe?-if so you may need to do a head rebuild-if not then do what droptop stang and find another shop-don't stick to one try several other smog shops people are hurting for money and most shops will look the other way

Most of the time, failing for NOx is due to a bad or poor performing catalytic converter.
