You have an r-12 system. As for recharging it don't bother, you can't find r-12 any more and even if you did you have to be certified to buy the stuff.
Your best bet is to covert it to an r-134a system (it's only a matter of time before you have to any way). What I did was went to a dealership and had them install a retrofit kit. What that involved was putting a vacuum to the system to remove all the r-12 and oil, installing the r-134a fittings on the high and low side ports, and recharging with r-134a plus the new oil. It only cost 180.00 thats is if your low pressure switch in not defective like mine was. Even then another 20 bucks for a new switch and your up and running. hope this helps out.
