Default Wont Pass 3000rpm

i have an 86 mustang with a turbocoupe engine... once in awhile(its happened twice now in about 2 months) it doesnt pass 3 grand. once it happens, im not able to get anymore rpms until i restart the car.. its really weird because it doesnt pass 3 grand, but the turbo starts to spool really loud, and the boost increases but nothing happens.(thats if i keep my foot into it)..

anyways, i dont think i can be anymore descriptive than that, so if im being really confusing i appologize..

im tthinking it could be the throttle position sensor?

you guys have really helped me in the past, just thought id throw this out there

thanks in advance

I am not sure if these cars have rev limiters, I am certain they might. Could be an issue with that.

Default typo

This type of trouble can be very difficult to shoot. When you have the problem thats when you must do testing. The trouble clears up on restart so i suspect the ECM or one of the sensors is messed up. If i had to guess i would say air flow meter. Check for codes and fuel preasure. Sounds like electronics.

Default same trouble 3000 and out

I am sorry I have to re bring this thread back up.
I ma having this issue also with 2000-3000 RPM. The Turbo trys to spool and then the whole motor spits and bucks ...???

Unless you go slowing on the gas pedal it will not go good.

One day it ran fine then it sat for about 4-5 days and this just started acting up. It does not change or get better with warm up or turning the car off and turning back on???

Any help guys? Please?

Default 3000 stuff

It does not happen in reverse either. You can hammer it in reverse and it is fine...???

This is standard shift trans also.
