Default Chassis Stiffening

Hey guys,

I am considering some typical V8 concepts for stiffening up my Fox drop top such as subframe connectors and a rear shock tower brace and was looking for opinions and or experience with them on 4 cyl. cars. I want the car to handle but I am not to keen on adding alot of weight. Any brands you would recommend or alternatives would be greatly appreciated.

By the way, I am currently working on a ship (coming home in September) so my response may not be immediate.

Global West tubular SubFrame connectors. Lightweight and tuck up under the car nicely.

Make sure you weld them in and if you have a Fox body make damn sure you pull up the rear seat and fix the almost guaranteed cracking in the floor where the rear subframe connects. THis is usually a V8 issue, but if you're gonna do it you may as well do it right.

If you want to get sereyous about a strong fox here is what we do. We install through the floor subframe connectors and tie them into the rear upper torque plates. They have a nasty habit of cracking. This will take a tun of fab and a lot of stick time. Once its done its as strong as it is going to get. Under car subframe connectors are in my view better than nothing but their ability to strengthen the car is debatable. Through the floor units are what you want. If you are not putting down to many ponies under car units are OK once the power starts getting sereyous through the floor is the only way to go. If the upper arms are not tied in to the connectors you are wasting your time. I have seen to many rear sections ripped out in my shop. Hope this helps.
