Default 2.3L fuel system codes

i just checked my ecu codes today, and i got one saying fuel system not entering closed loop and low fuel flow or low fuel pressure. anyone have any idea where to start? it seems like it loses power on acceleration about 35% of the time but usually runs smooth. idle is a little erratic. can't check fuel pressure. yet... any ideas will be appreciated

Check fuel preasure it should be 35-45 lbs with the vacuum hose removed. Also change the fuel filter first. The reason you are getting a no close loop is because the car is very lean. You also may have a bad fuel pump or a clogger tank sock.

i'm hopin its not the pump for cost reasons. can't check the pressure at all. no guage and no friends who have one. no money for shop to check either. shouldn't be the filter, its only a year old, but you never know. i plan to change it asap. what about the pressure regulator? is it run on vaccuum? could a vaccuum leak throw it off and drop the pressure?

grab a haynes manual at advance auto for 15 bucks. i'll post it when i have the book here. can't remember all the details. u need an electrical tester though and a spare bit of wire about 6 in to 1 ft long. it pretty easy though. will need book for codes anyway. instructions are in emissions section

the ecu test plug is on the fire wall near the tire. the book says on pass side, but mine is on driver side. its between the wheel and the driver seat in that little corner of the engine bay. there are 2 plugs in the cover. pull both out. there is a small 1-hole plug and a large one somewhat shaped like a triangle. there are 6 holes, 4 across the wide end and 2 on the short end. use jumper wire to bridge the left hole in bottom, small row. + end of electrical tester in + end of battery and - end of tester into hole 1 up and 1 to the right of the hole with the jumper in it on big plug. there are 2 tests, key on engine off, and key on engine running. or koeo and koer. koeo - connect ecu tester as described above and turn on the key without turning on the car. the needle will full sweep with a 1 sec pause between code numbers and 4 sec pause between codes. 91 and above slipped in 3 digit codes, but most are 2. this process is a lot easier if you have the haynes book pictures easier than trying to figure out what i said, lol. the book only 15 bucks and has all the codes. if you can't get book, post the codes on here and i'll help as fast as i can.
