With the car off, plug it into the wire harness. Driver side under the hood. It'll be a black plug with a small single grey plug with it.

Plug them in. Then follow the book. It's pretty easy. I use the same one.

63 is what you got. 63 is Throttle Position Sensor - Signal voltage is to low.

Another question. How am I supposed to do it? I just did it by plugging it in. On hold i turn the key (not turn on car) then I put it on test. Is that right?

yes. Then it goes through some tests. Now you can do the same while the car is running. Set your parking brake. Make sure your in park or neutral. Start the engine. run the engine to warm the EGO sensor. Run the engine at 2k rpm for 2 minutes. Turn engine off. wait 10 seconds-Restart engine. Switch scanner to test. Get the #'s.

They are anywhere from $40-$80. I'd replace it if you got the money. I don't know if it could be fixed but I don't think it can without being replaced. You'll have to spray the 2 little bolts holding it on with PB Blaster and let it sit before you try to loosen them or they might snap. They when you go to loosen them do little turns back and forth, loosen and tighten, to get it off easier. That's how I had to do mine. One of the bolts stripped on me so I had to grind it off then grab it with vise grips and loosen it that way.

Voltage to the TPS, or the feedback voltage to the EEC is too low?
You need to unplug it and see what the VREF voltage is if you suspect the voltage GOING to the TPS is low.

The code refers to sig return voltage. VREF (reference voltage or voltage to the sensors) seen by the ECU is the same for all sensors.

The TPS may just need to be adjusted. Search here or better yet over at NATO (Turbo Coupe forums) for setting TPS voltage.

TPS
To set the TPS you will need the following tools.
1. Small Phillips screwdriver
2. Digital Voltmeter
3. Analog Voltmeter

The base idle needs to be set properly prior to setting the TPS. see below for instructions on setting base idle

The next thing to do is hook up the analog meter to the green and Black wires. With the key on open and close the throttle body slowly, you should see the needle move in a smooth arc without jumping around. If the needle jumps there is a dead spot in the TPS and it will need to be replaced.

The next step is to set the TPS to the proper voltage with the key in the on position. Using your digital meter, connect to the same wires as you did in the above. The TPS voltage should be as close to .90V with the TB in the closed position. At full open (WOT) should be around 4.5V to 4.75 V. If the TPS is not within the above settings, loosen the 2 phillips head screws and rotate the TPS until you get to .90V at closed throttle. Tighten the screws, and recheck your settings again.

How do I set my Base Idle?

To set your base idle you will need to have the car running, at operating temperature, all accessories off.

The next step is to disconnect the IAC (Idle Air Controller). The engine speed should slow to around 750 or it may stall. The proper setting is listed on the emissions decal on the cover of the coil.

With the IAC still disconnected set the idle speed using the adjustment screw on the front of the TB. Operate the throttle a few times to make sure that it is set properly.

Turn off the engine and reconnect the IAC and start the car. After a few minutes the idle should set itself around 950 to 1025 RPM. After doing this procedure, it may be necessary to reset the TPS.

CODES

Reading the codes --

The first thing to do before reading codes on your computer is WARM UP. The engine must be warm, even for an accurate KOEO test.
Ford suggests 2 minutes at 2000 RPM, Mike Flemming suggests a 10 minute drive (with extensive use of the accelerator pedal) to be sure everything is up to to temp.

The codes will be displayed on your fancy tester, volt meter, or test light. Reading the codes from the fancy tester is self explanatory, but here is how you read from a test light, or volt meter.

The codes will be displayed as flashes on the light, or needle sweeps on the volt meter. On SVO's all codes will be 2 digit.
Codes are displayed as pulses, with .5 seconds between digits, and 2 seconds between codes. so code 22 would be displayed as :
pulse (.5 seconds) pulse (2 seconds) pulse (.5 seconds) pulse
there would then be a 4 second pause between codes, if more than one is present

In KOEO mode, after current codes are displayed, a pause of 6-9 seconds will occur, and any stored codes will be displayed

After the engine is warm, and you begin your self test, there will be a series of outputs from the computer. Some of these outputs will be signals that the computer wants something. This section will explain what's required of you.
KOEO tests don't have any expected inputs, so these all refer to KOER tests.

Here are the outputs you will be seeing after you start the engine:
  • You will see 2 pulses, this is a engine ID code, no input is expected.
  • 6-20 seconds later, you will see a single pulse, this is the goose test indicator, you should do the goose test now.
KOEO test codes
(pulls 'current' codes, and codes stored in memory)

(1) Make sure engine is fully warmed. (read above for suggestions)
(2) Turn the engine OFF
(3) Connect the scan tool (whatever it may be) to the self-test connectors.
(4) Turn the ignition switch ON but don't start the engine.
(5) The codes will be transmitted. Six to nine seconds after the last code, a single separator pulse will be transmitted. Six to nine seconds after this pulse, the codes from the Continuous Memory will be transmitted.
(7) Record all service codes displayed.

KOER codes.
(1) Make sure engine is fully warmed. (read above for suggestions)

(2) Turn ignition off. Make sure A/C is off and transmission is in Neutral.

(3) Hook up light and jumper (or tester if you have one).
(4) Set emergency brake, and and start engine.

(5) Engine I.D. should be output.

(6) When goose pulse is received, press accelerator pedal to the floor, wait for the tac to hit 3500 RPM, and release. -- If you want to be sure you don't get a code 25, have a buddy tap the intake a couple times GENTLY with something metal.

(7) Fast Codes are output (ignore, these would be read by a star type reader).

(8) Read codes, as above.
