Default 2.3L Mini Stock Car Build

Hey,

Im looking into building a Mini Stock Car, to race at my local track. Since I have owned a 5.0L before and have a lot of parts for these mustangs I would like to build a 2.3l mustang coupe stock car for 2/3 mile ashphalt oval track. Im just curious on what year you think would be the best to go with I know in 1992 the 2.3L had 2 sparkplugs per cylinder and made the most horsepower a 2.3L stang made stock, but im just wondering if there is anything better with the older models. The rules state that the internals and head must remain completly stock however you are allowed to swap out the fuel injection for a older 2 barl carb as long as it is from a stock ford. Im also limited to only using 2 1/4" exhaust so im pretty limited to much porting or head work I take it.

Any advise regarding reccomending a good year to look for and any information on what could be done to get more power out of the 2.3L while keeping it stock would be greatly appreciated!

It could depend on the rules where you gona race at but just cause it makes the most hp stock dont mean it will modded. Matter of fact EFI 2.3's especially the two dual plugs dont take to mods well unless turboed. Most likely you will be only permitted to run a carbed engine. And there are small differences in the carbed engines. They say running a O-port head with a D-port intake unmatched or ported works fine. SEarch around and wait. You'll get some answers, plus check out youtube.
