Default 1993 Mustang 2.3 shuts off while driving

My 93 lx w/ 2.3l and manual trans shuts off randomly while driving. The rpms drop to nothing. The car will sometimes start back up without having to pull over. Sometimes I have to wait a couple of minutes. It will do this hot or cold. If I accelerate very slowly, it will shut off less frequently, but if I accelerate quickly, I can't go farther than 100 feet. Thing is, if I get to the clutch quick enough, as soon as the clutch if pressed in, the engine will rev back up. I have changed the crank position sensor, both coil packs, starter switch, ignition control module, fuel filter. Mechanic said the fuel pump and strainer were both replaced, but I'm not 100% positive.

Please help. I am down to one vehicle for me and my wife.

Okay, since no one seems to be replying I will go out on a limb here. I am going to ask you to check your intake manifold for "carbon" build-up. Make sure that the "throttle-valve" is not stuck and that it can move freely. If there is a lot of build-up then get some brake cleaner and a rag and open up the throttle body and clean it out. And if that isn't the main cause then at least the car will run better, lol. I am thinking that it is shutting off due to rich conditions where the engine is starved of oxygen.

Is there a lot of black or dark smoke coming out the tail-pipe when this happens by any chance? Does this happen when you are idling as well or just under a load(like if you were to rev it up)? Anything else that you can describe about this event may be helpful to the people here.

thanks for the reply. I'll check it out. To answer the additional info questions: no smoke, only cuts off while in gear and accelerating. Does not cut off idling. Does not cut off revving the engine w/ car in gear & clutch pressed in, does not cut off revving engine with car out of gear. Thanks for the help!

CRANK SENSOR. They heat up and go open. When the car wont start check for spark and fuel. You will probably have no spark
