Default I need some help with freeze plug sizing.

My 93 2.3 blew the freeze plug on the back of the block i was wondering what size that one is. any help is appreciated. also how much effort is required to change this particular plug. seems like it might b e a little tuff to get to.

thx

Go to the auto parts store and they have a book that lists all the sizes and locations of the welch plugs by application. They are not hard to change.

That one is hard to change I'm afraid.

The transmission has to be separated from the engine. And the flywheel has to come off too. It takes longer to get to the freeze plug than it does to replace it.

Totally correct but pulling the trans is really no big deal. If its a stick new clutch and rear seal and put it all back. Thats a given the trans and flex plate or flywheel must come off. I did not want to ruin his day but i figured he knew he had some sergury with the rear plugs. Thanks chandler

One on the back of the head (and in block on passenger side) 1-1/2"

One in the rear of the block (depending on who you ask) is 2-3/16"

Tom is correct. Any parts store should be able to get one for you.

Hi curt their seems to be some confusion on that plug??? You are totally right. We mike them up to make shure it is the right one. I hate to tell people the sizes. Because if they don't fit right they kinda get mad. Catch this the new cobra V8 blocks have screw in plugs. COOL OR WHAT.
