Default bendix gear/starter drive questions

this is my scenario, my bendix gear/starter drive is all chewed up yet my starter seems to still work fine. Is there a way to replace the gear on the starter because I see this part online and I would rather do this than buy new.
here is the part

ACDELCO Part # F2006 More Info {#19106549}

any info would be appriciated

thanks,

Randy

Fairly easy. Years ago that is what we did. We were mechanics back then we fixed things. We were not part changers like what is done today.

If you're careful, you won't need any special tools. When you take the starter apart, try not to let the back cap separate from the armature. If that happens, the brushes will pop out and you'll have a heck of a time getting them back in.
