The IRCM on your passenger side strut tower houses the fan relay. Looks like a black box with a bunch of wires going to it. Try tapping on it to see if it picks up any. If it's what you need, I got an extra one for sale. Let me know.

Its The CTS sensor. That is the first thing i would replace. Get one from your local ford store only.

THREE TEMP SENDERS?????? I AM CONFUSED???? FAN MODULE IS CONTROLLED BY THE ECM WHICH TURNS THE FAN ON WITH THE CTS. FAN MODULE COULD BE BAD?? I CHANGE THEM SOMETIMES.

had the same problem on my brothers 2.3 liter. Fan wouldnt come on when engine reached tempature it shouldve. his is the 4 plug
and on the bottom of the intake in an awkward place the tempature sensor is, its like a 21 size wrench to break it lose, if its been changed it will probably be an 18 size wrench. eitherway, if
you change this sensor out you have to make a quick swap from
old to new so you dont lose radiator coolant. theres another
tempature switch that directly corrilates with the computer
that is in the same area which has a plug in versus the sensors
threaded wire connector.

On the 8 pack coil for 2.3 theres a sensor switch on the heater hose near the engine wall. we got the sensor for the fan at autozone and
now the fan stays on from start up to turn off. Were looking into seeing if we recieved the right tempature sensor for the fan or if we need to chage the tempature computer switch aswell.

If you got the four plug distributor and the tempature sensor
is under the intake be prepared to have awkward time trying to break it loose, I got 13 inch round forearms so it was a pain.
the sensor for the fan at autozone is around 8 dollars, use some white tempered tape or go get one from ford directly.

Tom, I think he means there are 3 sensors that have a relationship with coolant.
1. ECT sensor
2. Gage sensor
3. Fan switch

Looks like controlled by ect. Unsure of location on that year car. Has the ICRM on passenger fender. The older Mustang has 3 sensors like already mention.
