I have a 1989 Conv. Mustang and am working on adding a Turbo. I have read some of the post but still am a little confused about what needs to be done. I have a 2.3 Turbo Engine out of a Volvo and was wondering if it is possible to put it on the existing block or should i replace the whole motor. Also, will a T5 transmission work on this setup? If anyone has done this type of build can you please direct me to a parts listing and what needs to be done to make this project work. What types of gains should I expect with this setup and how reliable is it? Any help would be appreciated.
Ok their are a couple of 2.3 volvo engines 5 cyl 4 cyl????? Some guys install volvo heads on 2.3 fords. Its a common swap. So what is your question???? Will the engine FIT??? or will the Turbo FIT??? Need a little more details.
Yes Yes 75 that is the cats behind. Its called a FOLVO. I have never done one but i also want to do it. Its expensive and will make that 2.3 come alive. Their are several guys that do it. I am also researching. No intake or exhaust available as far as i know. The belt and pulleys are available. I am still researching this thing. If you find out any thing post it i am interested also. Thats a great mod.
Unsure of the DOHC would love to keep the head and install on the MGB project [For those who don't know it getting a 2.3 t with c-4] . But money is money.
This is a posting on turbofordl.net that got me interested in the Volvo SOHC. At the time I purchase it I had done sent 2 head to check for cracks and both bad. Finally got one after purchasing the Volvo head. This guy makes some interesting points. For lot of power yes DOHC but us that want reasonable amount at resonable cost this maybe a idea. It is a long post some be prepared to spend some time reading. But worth it if it is a consideration. Maurice TurboFord.net Forums: Why the Volvo 16v obsession? (ie why not 8?)
