an '88 that likes to stall out in bad places I've got a couple problems, but I guess I'll post a separate thread for the others--one thing at a time! Well, my timing belt finally broke a month ago while I was driving on the interstate...so we got a new one, replaced it. Replaced the spark plugs too. It was driving fine, but unfortunately, I've been laid off work so I haven't been driving my car nearly as much as I was before (three hour round trip every day to work and back). That car has been good to me! Anyways, it has been sitting in the yard a little more than what it's "accustomed to". I got in and drove it to the city and it kept stalling out.
I start the engine, run it..and if I let off the gas, it stalls. Anyways, I decided that if I drove it down the interstate a bit, maybe it would help. So I drove to the store the interstate way, and after I got out of the store and restarted it, it stalled a couple times while I was driving through the parking lot when I had to let off the gas! Argh!
But the last time I got in on a separate trip, it stalled once or twice after I started it, but it didn't stall when I got to the city. So it's kind of a random thing...it doesn't ALWAYS happen, but it happens maybe every couple of times I take it out...which can be annoying. I'm not crazy about stalling out at red lights or in front of people while they wait for me to move out of my parking spot..haha.
So has anyone else had this issue? Or does anyone think they might know what's causing the extra stallings? |
