Default Blew away a poncho

I am trying to see if i am posting correctly. So here comes a story. I was headed up to madison with my 2.3 TC. I was minding my own business on the highway when a pontiac FB starts messing with me. For some reason they like messing with old guys or something. I really wanted no part of him but he kept up his act. I got to the straight away on 91 in berlin and geared the bird down to like 25. We both hit it and i pulled out on him by a car and a half. The turbo boost gauge was pinned at 28 PSI and the car was pulling like a freight train. I spun the needle around on the speedo. The guy could not keep up. I let off after hitting 6200 RPM in fifth gear. Thats FAST. We pulled over at the burger king off the highway in berlin and so did the guy. Turns out the guy had an LT1 motor and a 5 speed. He said he gave it all he had and said that my 5.0 T Bird was fast. I just laughed and popped the hood on the bird and showed him the motor. The guy could not believe it was a 4 banger. I shook his hand and we went in and had a burger and fries. I paid the bill and the guy was cool. I have to stop this speed stuff but i have it in my blood. Why do all you young guys pick on us old DUDES. Just kidding but this is a true story.

that kinda stuff happens people see a mustang and are like haha lets race and with only a 2.3l n/a i can do nothing but let them feel good about beating a mustang so tom, i know this isnt exactly the topic of this thing on here but after reading some of your other posts i know you know your stuff. i was wondering what all it would take to turbo a 93, with the dual fire head and dis? like i know pistons crank and all that fun stuff.... or would it be easier to find a turbo motor and somehow put the dual fire head on it? or run only 4 plugs? i can do the work but it seems as if you have the professional edge on me. thanks.

Hi scott. I added the story to the post to see if i knew how to do this computer stuff. I have litterly a mind full of them but lets get to your question. The best thing you can do is get a turbo motor from a TC. This way you will have all the right stuff. The turbo head pistons and block. But if you turbo your car it can be done if you keep the boost conservitive. Like 5-6 lbs. Lots of guys have done it that way. I have been doing it for app 47 years. And i own my own shop. I have built many an NA motor that was fast as well. The key is you need two cars. One to be a daily driver and one TOY. Never get your daily driver to the point where its not reliable and cant get you to school or work. Making a car fast takes two things money and time. You will get their when i was young i had a 55 chevy with a 265 2 barrel. The car was slow but i loved it to death. Drove it to school every day. Research the sites and you can build a fast car to its not that hard. TOM

Cool story, of course alot of the kids sure know what a turbo 4 is all about, note the Mitsubishi EVO and WRX subaru...wish ford would resurrect the turbo 2.3

EVO FAST?? UGLY WRX FAST maybe?? Also ugly Very ugly. 96 cobra kenny equipped and a 408 stroker on the stand. TOTALLY SICK AND BOSS DUDE. I love it And a drop top to boot TOTALLY AWSUM DUDE. F the VIPER

hey thanks tom so about those fast n/a motors? di love to be able to keep non turbo and make power, that would just be awesome! so i have the whole exhaust thing done... kinda.. just gotta run it out the back... header high flow cat, and muffler, got a spiffy intake (pipe from a truck roll bar, and chopped the bottom off the air box) bigger plug wires and hotter plugs, i have a cam but not in yet. what other mods help? thanks

Tom don't feel bad your not the only old guy that gets pick on
I drive 70 miles a day round trip to work and they like to pick on
poor 2.3 mustang but i'm getting 30 mpg with it!!
I love it when i'm in my buddys dodge cummins with the edge controller and bigger turbo it eats most imports

Scott get that cam in DUDE. It will make that 2.3 a BELIEVER. Yes 93 those cummins definately have torque thats for shure!!!

well they are kinda... just with a v6 instead of the 4cyl
