Default Cruise Control not working!

I just bought a 2.3 Coral Reef Blue 1993 Mustang for $800. Only 104,000 miles on it. I'm doing some minor work to it as it's in great condition. But the cruise control doesn't work. I'm guessing it's maybe a fuse, but not sure. Any ideas if that isn't it?

It also works on vacuum. You will probably need a manual to shoot the trouble. Oh yes no self respecting HOT RODDER cares if his cruze works. Just kidding. Cruze controll problems are a pain. The controller and cable ass is probably shot. Check all vacuum lines. Ford also had a massive recall on the cruze controll system. You might be able to have it fixed for noting. Call your local dealer and have him run the VIN. You may be able to have it fixed for free. TOM

Thanks! I know this won't be popular to say on a Mustang forum, but I'm just trying to fix it cheap so I can sell the car. Bought it low, trying to sell it for KBB price. That means a little elbow grease and trying to make it as mint as possible!

I assume speedometer works. If not check it out may solve the cruise.

lol... So obviously the speedometer gauge and the cruise control are not linked. The speedometer is simply a mechanical line, is it not? I thought vacuum lines controlled the cruise control junk?

How does the cruise control work?

Steve

My cruise on my '88 doesn't work either.

Does a light come on in the instrument cluster somewhere when you hit on?

I just fixxed a ton of stuff .. heater core .. fuse box (don't ask) and only my horn and the cruise are left to make my car perfect!!!

Thanks in advance!

Craig

I'm in the same boat. My horn, cruise and dome light do not work. Everything else is dandy. I bought the car last weekend, and so far I have replaced:

Driver seat
Driver and passenger sun visors
Oil change
Wipers
Wiper Arm
Hatch back latch
Hatch supports

Next up is the serpentine belt and air filter. Trying to get everything back to stock working order so I can flip the car and make a profit from it. Would be a good selling point if I could fix the dang cruise.

Default cruise control

Guys, the cruise control gets a signal from the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) which is on the tranny end of the speedo cable where it engages the drive gear.
You were asked about the speedometer working 'cause the VSS picks up its signal from the speedo cable turning.....no speedo,no signal.
You might want to get a look at the connection at the sensor could be loose, cruddy broken wires, yada, yada............
