I was told 3:55 and 3:73. I'd like to know exactly what gears are there so I can get the next size up or so. I found 3:73 gears that'll go into a 7.5 rear end. But if I alredy have that then i'm going 4:10. I want the low end torque. I want my 2.3l to jump when I gas it. Help me out people, please.
2000 Ford Explorer
4.0 SOHC Automatic. Ultra White Headlights and fog lights. JVC headunit.
Future addons: Nissan Frontier Supercharger.
1992 Ford Mustang
2.3L N/A Automatic. Finally Running! Black and Blue "Speed" seat covers. CD Deck to be installed soon. Putting rear seat back in soon.
Future addons: New interior, paint flat black. 2.3L Turbo swap.
So I could possibly hit up the junk yard looking for an automatic 2.3 and take those gears and swap them with mine for without doing any other modifications? I have a 1990 with a 5 speed btw.
Didn't we just have this discussion less than a month ago?
SM90Stanger, it's not as easy as you make it sound. Do some homework, you'll see what I mean.
93FoxbodyPITA You won't like 4.10s there ain't enough overdrive to hide them on a highway.
What gear ratio will give me more off the line then? That's all I want to know. A straight forward (correct)answer. What gear size should I use to give me more off the line? And do I have to change the rear end to use the new gears? Please, that's all i'm looking for.
Chandler.... I thought maybe someone might just know off the top of they're head what was in the car. I'll look myself. But next time, don't be nice about it, be blunt with me and say " look for yourself, why ask?"
Kilog... I thought about painting it red to make it faster. How many permanent markers do you think it'll take? If your being serious, the system if very light. To even it out, there's no spare tire. How's that?
Thanks for the serious answers guys. See you later.
dunno without boost or a swap your not gonna win any races or have a speed demon and the stereo set up outweighs the spare and jack by quite a few pounds

++++ ON THE GEAR RATIOS. But i would check any way never hurts. I got burned many a time assuming. Chandler is right if the vehicle is bone stock. His ratios are correct. The TC is 3.73 auto and 3.55 5 speeder
