Default 1990 2.3 bore and stroke

how large can you bore a stock 2.3 motor safely
im planning to bore and stoke a motor i found the crank and rods now im just curious how big of pistons i should get so i can send it all to the machine shop

I wouldn't go more than .030" without sonic checking the block. You'll want to know how thick the walls are and how consistent that thickness is around the each cylinder if you really feel compelled to push further.

Dont figure in getting cubes from boring out a 2.3. It only gets you about 3.5 cubic inches fore every .030 overbore. I would not recommend going over .040 MAX if really necessary. But chandler is right .030 is basically the limit. If possible go .020 and keep the walls strong. 2.3 fords are not that thick so go for the least amount of OVER BORE.

I agree with the least amount of overbore it takes to make the cylinders round and true. If it were my motor, that's what I'd do. In fact, it's the only reason my turbo motor is .030" over. There was a spot on the #4 cyl wall that wouldn't clean off at at .010 and still there at .020.

ok thanks i knew i wouldnt get a lot of extra cubic inches from boring thats why i am going to stroke it the boring is just to add a little and make it fresh
