i want to send my my stock 1990 n/a motor out and get it bored .030 and have the headed ported and polished everything balanced and cleaned and new cam bearings does any one know about what the cost would be thanks
Most places are different. you'll have to go there and tell them what you want done for a good estimate. When i had a 351W block cleaned, bored .20 over and new freezer plugs and bearings it was 300 bucks. but that was like 8 years ago.

I paid $1475.00 for bored .30 over, skirts shaved, all new bearings, zero gap piston rings, blue printed and balanced, and assembled. Plus new valves, springs, heads milled, started up and broken in.
Any where from 300.00-350.00 a hole is about right. A fiew tips if i may.
1 bore it .020 not .030
2 balancing is not needed (but its a good idea)
3 never ever use a gapless ring.
4 have it ported by a professional (BO PORT)
5 pick a cam wisely
6 check the deck for flatness.
7 use a roller cam (never use a slider)
Good luck on your build
Hi orange in the past 47 years building motors i will tell you right now that line boaring is always an option. But i have never line boared a 2.3 unless it spun a main. The 2.3 line bore is right on 99.99% of the time. Remember this any work you get done by a shop is a compromize. Even my shop. The reason is simple. When ford or any other car company builds an engine its done on machines that cost millions of dollars and the tollerances are electronically monitored. In my shop its done on a 100,000.00 dollar machine. No where near the accurracy of the factory. We get them dam close and most of the times perfect. But we cant beat the factory machining in most cases. If its not messed up leave it alone and use the money somewhere else. I know i am going to get some flack about this statement but its true.

agreed tom. like my dad used to always tell me. "if its not messed up dont f*** with it." ...... but sometimes you do it anyway to find out the hard way. then you can say you tried, messed up, fixed it, and wont do it again. haha.
