Default TC Transmission questions

I am getting a B234f head to modify later this week or next week, and I'm getting to the point where the engine will be done pretty soon. I now need to start thinking of what will make all them horses actually reach the ground, and the stock SVO tranny I know will NOT work as the motor will produce too much torque. How do I find the torque ratings of a v8 T-5, or a T-56 tranny? Thanks for stoppin by.

The T56 is rated at 600 ft lbs of torque and the t 5 is rated at 240 ft lbs on a turbo coupe tranny. The cobra trans is rated at 330 ft lbs of torque. If you up for the V8 tranny it has to have the main drive gear turned down to fit the pilot bearing of the 2.3. The stock 2.3 tranny is pritty strong and will hold up fairly good with your new motor. Naturally the T56 is the best route to go. If you plan on a T56 the crank will have to be machined for a different pilot bearing. You can also have the crank machined for the V8 pilot bearing as well abd leave the tranny stock. Hope this helps.TOM

Now other option c-4. They can be built to handle the torque easy. First need rare bellhousing or 5.0 bellhousing and adapter. Stinger has them. Will need custom flexplate and custom torque convertor.

Ok I'm not sure how much torque I will be putting out, but I will be close to 400hp turbo'd. If I could get away with a GT T-5 tranny I will do that. But I just am not sure of which I will end up needing. Also, I thought there were adapters I could do with a 2.3L and a v8 tranny. If there isn't, can you explain a little better on what I need to do to the crank or the tranny to make it match up properly?

Also, automatics will NEVER be in ANY of my vehicles again. They're crap, and make you loose the "feel" of the vehicle by far. Thats all I gotta say about that :P

Ok I've been looking around to see if others have done this, and one particular link showed an adapter plate to adapt the v8 bolt pattern to the 2.3L, not sure if its necessary or if I should get this.

Quote:
Heavy Duty bellhousing adapter plate for 2.3L Ford!

The adaptor plate is constructed of billet aluminum and is designed to convert Ford’s 2.3L bolt pattern to the standard Ford small block or 5.0 bellhousing bolt pattern. This conversion enables the use of the larger transmission components including the automatic transmissions used with small block Fords.

Please visit http://cididit.com/products.htm for pictures of the adapter, as well as a link to Chris Roth’s installation site.

We are the manufacture of the adapter, which enables faster shipment of the product and a quality guarantee.

Quick background, my new car that I'm building is a '88 LX 4cy 5 speed, and I have a 88 TC motor that is being fully built. Looking at some stats of motors like mine they have easy 400-450 ft/lb torque so I need a tranny that can stand up to 500

T56 will be the only tranny for that
