Default 5.0l throttle body on a 2.3l 1989 mustang

will a throttle body from a 87-93 5.0l mustang work on a 89 2.3l mustang? if not, will you be able to use a 91-93 5.0l mass air flow setup with a big bore (65mm) 2.3l trottle body? or do they sell speed density to m.a.f. conversion kits for the 2.3l? any help is greatly appreciated, thanks

Some of the turbo guys have messed with the 5.0 throttle body in varying degrees of success. It's not a bolt for bolt swap.

Switching from SD to metered air on a 2.3 isn't as easy as the 5.0 where you can buy everything you need from FRPP. The 2.3 MAF cars also had DIS, so that's not a drop in affair either. Not that it can't be done, it's just a pain in the butt, and you're sorta stuck with the stock MAF. Even if you ran a 5.0 MAF, I don't think you could come up with the right injector size to compensate like the 5.0 guys. To do it right would require changing the MAF transfer table in the computer.

How much effort are you looking to put into this?

You can get some better results with a blow through vain air also. Its easier to do and guys like the difference in performance. I personally have not tried it but just for kicks i would like some pull data on it. I was planning on setting one up and compair pull data. Its in my brain for things to do in the future???
