Default injector and EEC tuner questions?

i have an 86 svo , 57 trim turbo, external wategate, Header, 3" exhaust, front mount, PE computer, stock Vam, stock head.. msd coil, and an adjustable FPR with 1-1 ratio.. wideband. im only pushing 5 lbs now and want to push 18lbs of boost..

I have it running, and she is lean, What a suprise, lol..
Anywho im going to go to 55lb injectors or so.
I have done little reserch on EEC tuners, I was pry going to get the Tweecer for it! Megasquirt seemed to intence..

Does anyone recomend anything different?

The megasquirt is basically top dog but other systems do a very good job. Tom JR does all the tuning he is the computer guy around here. If you want megasquirt info contact turbo bob on the turbo ford website. He is the engineer for megasquirt and he is the top dog on the system. Hope this helps TOM

a friend of mine pushed 18lbs of boost out of a stock merkur with no intercooler for 2 years before totally destroying the engine. the stock svo should be able to handle 15lbs from the factory on 91 octane, so 18lbs doesn't sound like a stretch, with a large fmic.

Ok, what tells you that you are running lean? If it is the wideband you mention, is truely a real wideband? What model.? There are some monitors that claim they are a wideband when in fact they are a narrowband.
Have you put it on a dyno that had a sniffer? I would trust that more than any wideband.

55lb injectors ....you will definately need a stand alone management system for those. The PE cannot run those without it running like a Mack truck (black cloud). If you go over to TF, Wilson racing sells a nice unit. Look for the banner on the right side of the screen in the main Tech area.
A TwEECer is pretty much obsolete now. You would be hard pressed to find one, muchless with the proper software to make it run correctly.

Personally, spend the money for a few pulls on the dyno to get the real story on what the car is doing. A cheap investment if you ask me.

thanks guys.. Im not using the wideband now..I know what is a true wideband is, lol... The one im going to tune with is an innovative motorsperts one.. i have a regualr a/f guage- autometer.. I know its lean because the plugs are white and i hit fuel cut once. whopsi.. And the guage is showing a leaner condition.. this is only at 5lbs of boost.. im running 43.5lbs of fuel pressure at idle
as for the dyno, im not spending that untill i get the tuner and injectors...

Now will the vane support my mods?
thanks again guys

A. What is fuel pressure doing with relationship to boost?

B. Depending on the tuner you select you may or may not need the VAF meter, so I cannot interject on that right now.

C. 43 psi is high at idle. It should be 39 w/o vacuum assist. Cranking it up won't compensate for a lean condition. You can get a tuner, injectors, etc. but it won't fix a lean condition either. Your FPR (or the vacuum line going to it) or pump is pooped or you have a restriction in the supply side such as a kink or a clogged filter.

D. You don't tune with a wideband AF gage, you tune with a dyno. They are true, calibrated, known good stand alone systems that don't lie.
