Just got a cai off e-bay and frist of all to big it's for a 5.0 thought it would fit rookie mistake. Secondly the MAF has a flat side to the housing. What am I to do ? I would like to have my car breath better need help bad is there any mod's that work I need that sensor so the she will run.
They sell a MAF adapter at Pep Boys. As for the 3" 5.0 CAI, use a rubber reducer from local parts store or Lowe's/Home Depot. You can also use the rubber intake hose from a '90 2.3l mustang, I think it is.
It looks like the thing on the pipe here. I used one before I found out the 3" don't do to well on the '91-'93 unless you do some other things. I had no top end on mine and if I floored it from a dead stop, it would chock.(Is that even spelled right?) So now I have a 2" and it's running great.
So when you put the 2" pipe on you car proformed better and did you get more hp ? and what did you do with your two hose that are connected to the air box ?

To answer the question about the lines going to box:
The one line that is connected to the air box is a vacuum line, the other hose (the rubber one) is completely useless because it was used for recirculating hot air from the exhaust back into the intake. Plug the vacuum line with a tee or a nail, and you'll be good to go. That vacuum line determines how much air the intake is sucking in, so if you leave it in the open, the car will idle really high and run like crap because it thinks it isn't getting any air.

That's correct. Now I got more top end with the 2", but the 3" kicked me back in the seat when I floored it at 20 mph. If you can get the 3" working right with a 5.0 MAF and matching injectors plus a tuned computer for the extra air flow, I think it'll do really good. (Someone told me to tune the computer, so don't quote me to much on that.)
