Default Cougar sunvisor in Mustang

Tom Renzo said post some things. Well I will add something. When I was building the 89 Mustang. I got most of a black interior but no sunvisor. I searched for them and could not find any. Well was in j-yard looking in T-bird/Cougars for 2.3 turbos. Found some black sunvisors. Bought them 5 dollars. To install will have to redo headliner. Since mine was bad no problem. The hook part of sunvisor is wider away. Had to poprivet a piece of metal in roof area and drill for hook. Now the map light won't fit. [Cougar is longer] Drilled out spotwelds and added metal and poprivet back in. Sunvisor is mounted with 3 screws so 1 needs drilled. Careful not to go thru roof. Can add a piece of copper tube over drill bit leaving small amount of bit exposed to prevent this. Now hole in headliner board is wrong. Needs cut further back. Cut out and put this piece in front and tape in place. Glue headliner material in and reassemble.

Cool stuff man! It even has lights on the visor, I'm sure the ladies love that feature! lol

I have 2 manual sunroofs (or moonroofs)... one out of an 89 mustang and another out of a pontiac. I don't think I am going to use the mustang one as it would require me to weld in a new roof piece and the headliner that I got out of the hatchback is way too short and the sun/moonroof is way heavier. So the pontiac sun/moonroof is quite a bit smaller and just requires me to cut a hole in the roof and the headliner which will make the job a lot easier. I have to get a new black headliner anyways because I want a black interior. So I was thinking I would make a headliner with some cardboard and some foam and some cloth material and then just glue it all together. And then I would just have to cut all the holes out. I am thinking that this would be a lot easier and cheaper than buying a new one and moving all the light holes around.

I am wondering if anyone has ever made a headliner from scratch before?

Thanks, Steve
