Red face Engine bogs at 4K when Turbo spools

I have a 2.3 turbo in a 75 MG Midget. The car idles fine and as long as I keep it under 4K RPM runs and drives great. It will also run and keep pulling until you hit the magic RPM of 4,000. Pulls hard and fast but I have to short shift to keep it from bogging out and backfiring. When hooked up to scanner it says high voltage on MAF sensor. and when I try to running scan with car running it raises and lowers RPM 2 time and states vehicle is not responding. I have check grounds 1,000 times The computer is a LA3 computer. Turbo coupe 5 speed and 9 inch rear end with 3.90 gears.

Default How is the fuel

It is a brand new from JEGS MSD fuel pump. I was think about placing a fuel pressure gauge some where. Any suggestions? Like before the regulator or on the fuel rail?

Welcome. You got one in a Midget. I am putting one in a MGB. I own a restored MG Midget special. Now to your problem. You need 39 psi of fuel with the vac line off the regulator. Now put the vac line back on and note pressure. Now when you build boost should add 1psi of fuel for every 1psi of boost. Now the pressure with vac line on will be differant. Just note pressure and do the 1 to 1. 255 HP/HV pump is one to use not sure of yours. You say cuts out at 4000rpm is only when in boost or out of boost. May want to check fuel filter.
Now the 2.3 turbo never had a MAF they had a Vam. Goes in same place as vam but has a door in it that moves and measures the air flow. Does you have a MAF or Vam? The computer maybe chipped for a MAF.
Timing should be 10degrees BTDC with spout out. Are you using Motorcraft plugs etc. More info and maybe can help. Here is site with the codes and possible solutions.

What code is it coming up? Has it been running ok and now doing this? Or is this problem since the conversion? Most people post pictures on photbucket or one of the other photo sharing site. Don't sweat it. I messed up plenty of link, pictures and put my foot in my mouth when I first started doing this. But everone is here to help. Just keep giving us info so we can help. You love British cars so you are a alright person in my book. Maurice

On most sites what you used from photobucket would have worked. Here you have to click on the paper clip to upload files.

Yup, what Kurt said.

If it backfires, it's ignition related.

I have a new MSD boost timing master box. Do you think it would help to hook it up? I was waiting for it to work properly than hook it up?

My one friend who has driven the car said that it is not backfiring. It is either the computer is cutting it out or not enough fuel?

code 52 Comes up as Power steering sensor. Both off the site I gave you and my Haynes code book. Since put in a MGB no power steering switch. I assume. So that is a code you can ignore. So like you already mention time to check fuel pressure. Also with ignition timing you did set with spout out. Makes a big difference. Just double checking. Motor maybe could have jumped timing. Here is how to check it.
