Default NEED HELP 1988 Mustang 2.3l Turbo

Hi every one I am a 20 year old college student on a budget who loves these cars. I own a 1988 2.3l Thunderbird a 1984 Thunderbird 3.8 and a 1988 Lincoln Mark 7 5.0Ho. I bought my 2.3l for 200 bucks 3 years ago and have been restoring it ever since. I am looking to get the 300 hp out of the engine and dress the engine up Like the title says the car is turboed and would like to keep it that way. Please post some suggestion to get 300 hp out of these engines. Thank you!!!

The hp is in the head and turbo. 300 HP is about all you can get from an LA3 computer. You will need a big valve head ported and polished and a BIG cam. Like somewhere around 515 lift and 220 duration on 114 lobe centers. The 300 hp mark is relitevely easy. All you need is app 100 more ponies. I have built several 300 HP 2.3 fords over the years. You will also need a log header and a good turbo. Boost somewhere around 20-22 lbs. and thats how its done. Good luck on your project.

Default lotta things to do to 2.3l for 300hp

I would suggest a 3inch down pipe and header to help it breathe and a good port job plus i use scott maine cams to make a custom for me which is the best way to make power especially in the power band you can feel it and a good after market ignition and dont over look boost you will need 18 to 20 depending on combination you go with.

Being on a student buget and trying to buil a 300+ HP turbo 4 is a stretch to say the least.

The head work alone is anywhere from $700-$2000 depending on who does it and how well you know them.
Bob's log (no coating or EGR) is a minimum of $300 more. Then there is the downpipe to add onto that.

A proper cam is going to be a minimum of $450 and then there is the issue of the roller followers and HLAs.

I don't mean to be the wet blanket, it's just that this is a contradiction of terms.
