buying Ford is not a cure. Face it. Secretly Ford is designing their own. They learn from each other. And I bet you want all the mess turned off. I bet can't. I think in less than 10 years every car will have a black box with memory. And if you have a accident you better have not caused it. Either your insurance will or will not pay [depending on how the write the policy] and rates go out the roof. Or you will get a civil suit for damages and personal injuries. Just look at the aircraft industries. It is coming.

if there's a black box in my car you can kiss it good bye. i have no electronics in my car except what causes the injectors to run. =] and it pulls harder and performs way better than when i first got it. and.... i still get good gas mileage

If I was being an idiot and caused an accident I would fess up and take responsibility. I don't see the problem with a black box recording that information. If you're responsible, it doesn't really matter what's being recorded. If anything it would help people who are falsely blamed or citied for accidents or traffic violations. Seems like some people feel the otherwise around here. Oh well...

they way i look at is... gov't already has so much control over everything anymore so why do they need to control our driving habits. there's going to be accidents no matter what (hate to say that) but its the truth. just because they put a computer in there doesnt mean its gonna save lives, or save your life if you pull out and get ran into.
and the pretty well already have a "black box" for accidents and information, its called accident forensics.
it we become so dependent on computer's whats our future going to look like when your driving? you wont even have to look left or right just stare straight ahead watching a screen, hell i mean they already have that for backing up now. it is seriously that hard to turn around and look?!
you know im the "young" one and the one who is "up to date with technology" but honestly im going to HATE to see this country in about 20-25 years when im 30 or 40!

sorry guys kinda got on a rant. haha

As long as they only put these "gps black box" devices in new cars, who cares? I am pretty sure that most of the people on this site are all about the real good cars (oldies but goodies) anyways. Unless they start putting these stupid things in every car, then it really doesn't matter... But if they do then that would probably be like a violation of privacy, which has to be in the charter of human rights somewhere.

The black box isn't going to drive your car for you. Have you heard of DARPA? It's an R&D organization within the DoD that sponsors the DARPA grand challenge. The whole point is to COMPLETELY automate vehicle to run a course an assisted. Anyway, those are HUGE research projects that are very expensive. None of that is even close to being in cars to where all you do is look straight and let you car drive. That's silly. The black box would only hold people accountable for their actions in an accident or violation whether by negligence, recklessness or accident. Who ever is at fault is at fault and this just helps put the blame on the right person. Electronic witness really.

Also, the back up cameras and sensors aren't designed for lazy people. They designed for the huge blind spot behind your car that's inherent when you back straight up. Even tho you're going slow there could be a child behind you car. As matter of fact, my cousin's kid was killed that way. The sitter was backing up and didn't notice the little girl run after her and run her over. Not that it happens all the time, but it happens. It'd be nice in parking lots too.

so its a good thing ford did save up or they'd be in trouble just like the rest.
wrong. Ford is treading water because they sold Jaguar, Land Rover, and Aston Martin. That is why they didn't need the government bailout.

Do not post it in the 2.3 tech section if it has nothing to do with fords or the 2.3l engines..

there are other places that this would fit in, people need help with their cars, and you are just jamming up this page with these useless stories.
