Default mustang lover 1st time poster code help
i just got my wife a 91, 2.3 and i have a code which is (172-HEGO sensor indicates lean condition,cylinder bank#1) i know from that, that it is running lean in cyl. 1 but i have no idea why or where to search for causes,any help would be appreciated.thnx

Possible causes:

Bad filter, bad fuel pump, bad injector (#1), bad O2 sensor(s), dirty MAF.

Start with the easy and cheap ones, clean the maf, change filter.

Have the injectors cleaned at a good shop, they will remove them, clean and calibrate.
Leave O2 sensors last.
