Default Internal water leak

I have an 88 2.3L (non-turbo) that has excessive water vapor coming from the exhaust. My first thought was bad head gasket, so I pulled the head. The head gasket, block, head, etc. looked OK. The gasket at the water jacket on the lower intake manifold looked bad. I thought that I had found the problem. I cleaned everything, installed a new head gasket with new head bolts, new intake manifold gaskets, etc. Torqued everything according to specs. Cranked it up, and I still have excessive water vapor from the tailpipe. While I had it appart, I checked the cylinders and pistons for possible cracks or damage and everything looked good. any ideas?

Check for a hairline crack in the intake between the water jacket and the runners adjacent to it, been there, done that.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have another motor that was running good when pulled. I am going to sub the intake from it and see if that solves the problem.

Well, installing a known good intake from another motor did not help the problem. Tonight I am going to replace the thermostat and see if that does any good. Any other suggestions appreciated.

Thanks.
