2.3L rear main seal question

Hi,
I have a few Mustangs, but my daily driver is a 91 LX 2.3L and it has developed what appears to be a rear main seal leak. I am getting engine oil comming out of the transmission inspection cover

. From past experience this tells me the rear main seal needs to be replaced. Does anyone know if this is a one piece seal and if it requires dropping the crank shaft to replace it? I was hoping I might be able to move the transmission out of the way and replace the seal with the engine in the car.
Anyone else come across this problem?

I have this very job in progress. I pulled the transmission and have replaced the rear main seal with the engine still in the car. I also decided to replace the front seal of my transmission at the same time. The only problems I have run into have been working around my exhaust system while trying to remove my tranny. Other than that, the job has gone good. I have a 90 LX 5.0. Good luck to you!
