Default Is There: KOKO

Hi everyone; first post here.
working on a '93 Mustang. has a 4 cylinder. automatic trans.
a friend has a diagonistic tool (but he is out of town; and parts store do '96 and up).

Is there a key on - key off (KOKO) type of self-test. check engine light came (back on a short time) after i had put on new egr and egr position sensor (to solve that problem - i hope).
any response in mucho appreciated.

if what i have found; should have said KOEO - meaning key on, engine off. i guess that the 93 4 cylinder has the EEV-IV system (is that correct).

this is what i have found:

http://www.dork.com/hiflow50/engine_self_test.html

(don't know if it will link)

can someone tell me if the following is correct (really wierd):

"Finally when finished reset your cars computer, do this by disconnecting the negative side of the battery while leaving your headlights on for 20 minutes."

so, you turn the headlights on, and disconnect the neg battery cable for 20 minutes. does that make any sense ?
the 1993 has codes that flash in the dash.

If you have an advance auto or autozone around they have a tester and can run the KOEO and KOER tests on it.
