the answer is "NO"

the 2.3HSC in-block cam motor is not at all the same as the 2.3L SOHC Lima Block.

you will have to locate a LIMA 2.3L to put in the mustang... or 2.3 T

2.3L Turbo motors were only under the turbocoupe till the turbocoupe ceased in 1988, then came the supercoupe 3.8V6 SC.

vehicles to find 2.3T

-1983 - 1986 T-Bird TC
-1987 - 1988 T-Bird TC
-1983 - 1986 Cougar XR7 TC
-1983 - 1986 Capri RS Turbo
-1984 - 1986 SVO Mustang
-1984.5 Mustang GT350 Turbo
-1985 - 1989 Merkur XR4Ti

the last known Ford with the 2.3T is the 1989 Merkur XR4Ti...

anything later than 1988 other than the Merkur... Never came with the 2.3T.
