Now as you may ask WHY would you want to move the battery... ( I plan to to this to my XR4 in the next few weeks).
First off... makes it easier to work under the hood... if you have a cut off switch inline with the battery 12V+ Lead... you can shut it down when ever you know you will be working under the hood...
Second off... Weight Distribution... Even tho it is only 10-20 LBS of weight... it does affect the transfer of weight within the vehicle... to move it equals out the weight distribution just that much more.
Third off... Hell... I think it is safer to boost a car from the rear... you ever boost a 1981 Corvette... Damn booster cables gotta go thru the door into the back of the car... with it in the trunk / hatch... pop the trunk / hatch, pull the good car behind the dead car (if your car is the one that needs a boost, LOL) hook up booster cables... this keeps you from having to have an overly long set of jumper cables or turn a car around to face yours on a busy freeway... Safer as well as if your battery is so dead... the guy jumping you (parked behind you...) can turn on his emergency flashers... hence the ability to warn other drivers your car is broken down.
Hell I wonder why they didnt put the battery there in the first place... LMAO
