Angry it won't move!

okay for the past month or so my 87 mustang hasn't been doing too good, the problem is that awhile back when i bought it, it ran pretty bad, i replaced parts to the car and it ran good. Battery, upper/lower radiator hoses, thermostat, exhaust manifold, pcv valve, air filter, water pump, after that it ran pretty damn good but i was scared of tearing the timing belt on the car so i decided to replace it, i checked it and damn that **** was bad, i got the belt and i did a pretty bad job in putting it on. I just marked the sprockets to where they were at and made sure they did'nt move, i put the belt back on without anything moving, it turned on but it just wouldn't go, I mean when i put it in reverse or even drive I would rev the engine like crazy but the car wouldn't go, only when I stepped on the gas in short bursts would it go but just barely even anything. Could i be out of time still? Or is it the tranny?

It has been a while since I have done one of those, but I seem to remember that there is a gear that drives the distributor that also has to line up when you replace the timeing belt. Pull the distributor cap and check to see that the rotor is lined up with no. 1 sparkplug when your other marks are lined up.

It's easy enough to check your belt timing. Run your crank around til it is at "0"....there is a plug tht you can pull to make sure the cam is on...then pull the dist cap and look the rotor.
