Exclamation A/C Fuse Keeps Blowing

Alright, so to start this, my battery was put in backwards in my '93 4 cyl. a few months ago and burnt some wires and blew a few fuses. I changed all of them but one keeps popping eveytime I turn on the A/C, it won't blow on "vent." When it blows it takes out the cruise control, the hatch release and of course the A/C won't work. I was wondering if anyone knew where to start in fixing it or anything about bypassing the module. Thanks.

pull the a/c controls out and look for a broken or striped wire or wires. if it burned up wires like you said, one back there may have been melted also and is touching metal shorting it out evey time you turn it on. also check the ground back there.

Exclamation Same Problem...Kinda

Ok, so I took the controls off and looked at all of the wires I got discouraged and quit. But later on I was trying to look at the compressor so I umplugged the compressor and replaced the fuse...started the car...turned on the a/c...the fuse didn't blow this time but after about 3 seconds the car cut off. Come to find out after plugging and unplugging the compressor I realized that I didn't hear the fuel pump getting ready before I started it. Apparently the a/c compressor is in the same circuit as the fuel pump. If anyone has ANY kind of idea of what could cause the compressor to cut off the fuel pump it would be much appreciated.

Exclamation Smoking Compressor

And yet another problem with the compressor. After driving a while I can start smelling a sort of burning smell. I can't quite place, by the smell, what is burning. So I popped the hood and noticed some smoke rising from the compressor and that is where the smell is coming from. I don't know what would make it smoke because it isn't on but maybe someone could tell me...
