A couple questions:

Are there any differences between the non-turbo 2.3L head and the turbo head?

If there are, would it be worth bolting up a rebuilt turbo head to a NA 2.3L?

The engine/head is a little worn and I was goinig to get a NA 2.3L head from the junkyard and have it redone, but if the turbo head is better [and I do plan on upgrading to a SVO motor eventually], I'll just put the rebuilt Turbo head on the NA motor in the mean time.

There is quite a difference between the N/A and Turbo head. The main difference is the combustion chamber. Different shape and cc's. And, as Fish states, the exhaust valves are made from iconium to better withstand the extreme heat and pressures associated with turbos. The also have different port configurations - D-port vs. oval. Some of the later model N/A heads also have air injection ports.

Uncracked turbo heads are like gold, and just as difficult to find! Small hairline cracks are useable (alot of guys on TF are running cracked heads and turning 300-400 hp), but large grand canyon cracks render the head useless. You can use a N/A head and have it extensively reworked to resemble a turbo head or look around for an early/mid 70's N/A oval port head which is essentially the same as a turbo head. www.turboford.net is your best source of info.
