Thumbs down Need a new motor

My daughter parked her 89 2.3 at school the other day and when she came out to come home it won't turn over. Towed it home and tried to turn it over with a breakover bar on the crank and it won't turn. took the plugs out and still no turn. so now we are looking for a new motor or a different motor. any one in or near the DFW area have one kaying around that you want to part with? Or does any one know where to get cheap engines in the area? Pm me if you do... Thanks!

For the life of me I can't remember if the 2.3 is an 'interference' motor. That is the valves can contact the pistons if the timing belt breaks. The only way to tell if the timing belt broke/slipped is to remove the timing belt cover for inspection You might get a head if the valves are bent, but as popular as the 2.3 was a rebuilt motor would be my choice. The 2.3 is a very good design and rarely do they throw a rod or suffer a failure that would lock up the motor.

It is not an interference motor, the pistons will not hit the valves if the timming belt breaks.
