i just picked up a decent 87 lx for $200 it runs ok but not enough power for me i have been searching around and think i have found a turbocoupe engine with the turbo. what years have turbo im looking at an 89. what would i need to do will the 2.3 turbo bolt right in? thanks.

If the motor is an '89, it's out of a Merkur XR4ti. They are the only 2.3's that were turbo'd that year. '83-'86 Turbocoupes had T3 turbos (and of course SVO's), '87-'88 Turbocoupes had IHI turbos and '8?-'89 Merkurs had T3's. You'll need the entire turbo motor but yes it'll bolt right in. You'll need the computer, LA2-LA3 from an '87-'88 TC, VAM pigtail and most desirable is the large VAM and 35 lb injectors from an '87-'88 TC.
