I bought a 86 stang about a year ago now, It has a carberated 2.3l 4spd manual trans. Ever since i bought it's never ran right. It just has no power. When i step on the gas it sounds like its a v8 and the exhaust has a snap to it. but when i just barely step on the gas it runs perfect. I have no clue whats wrong with it I changed the plugs, cap roter, and plug wires, fuel filter, fuel pump, got a brand new exhaust put on from the manifold to tail pipe with a thrush turbo muffler, air cleaner, checked the timing, replaced the clutch, new o2 sensor, but still runs like crap. It feels like its flooding out but its not. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. I'm just about ready to give up on it. thanx

Maybe the cat is plugged up? Try unbolting the entire exhaust temporarily, right after the manifold. It will be LOUD - but see if it runs better.

Maybe you have no fuel pressure? (even though you replaced the pump, maybe its the regulator?)
