Default Hey kinda Bored

Anyone got any ideas for speeding up a normally aspirated 1988 LX 2.3 Mustang. for not to much money, just something to give my friends camero a challenge... I mean more of a challenge after all it is a mustang!!!

Any suggestions would be great!

Cut out your catalytic converter(s), and weld in straight pipe. Any honest muffler shop should do this for about $30-$50 a cat. If you don't have emissions issues where you live, that is. A k&n air filter will help you breathe a little better too.
You could try advancing your timing and see if that helps any. Make sure your
Spark plugs and wires ect. are in good shape. IMO Motorcraft plugs work best
for ford engines. If your car is a standard, a new clutch will get you movin' a lot
faster if yours is worn out. Clutch for your car is cheap if you do it yourself. Those are some inexpensive things I can think of at the moment.

What's "Redneck Rigg"? Is your car auto or 5spd?

auto

Difinition= "REDNECK RIGG"=To do something very cheap Like " I put that "world class sodering tape" on just good enough so it would work, but next time if we have enough money we will use duct tape to hold the fender on instead of scotch tape.

A.K.A using what u have to fix a problem.

I see. Too bad It's an automatic. Not a hell of a lot you can do with that. Unless
you want to start ripping all of the body panels off of your car, there's not much
you can do to make it faster without dropping some cheddar$$$

Yup, what he said.

You can't get something from nothing. Redneck rigging isn't getting something from nothing. It's just delaying payment, sometimes with interest.

For that car, you can uncork the exhaust and intake and play with timing and tune. For everything else, there's Mastercard.

I was planning to do the same thing, gain a little horse with less $$$. Luckily mine is standard and the clutch is good, i have only one question about exhaust, is the flowmaster 30 series delta flow good for the 2.3 engine or is it just for V8s. And do you recomend cat back. thnx
