Default 89 gt to 92 lx 2.3

I know this has been brought up a million times but would still appreciate any advice. I have a 92 2.3 5 spd. I can get an 89 gt (body and interior shot but everything mechanical good) for $500. The car used to be a 5spd but the guy converted it to an auto (he has one leg). Would anyone recommend buying the gt and doing the conversion? Would the whole wiring harness need to be switched out since the 92 has an airbag?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

either everything would have to be swapped from the GT (both harnesses, steering columns, etc.) or you'd have to find an '89 computer and harness to run it all and just swap the computer harnesses, computer, and running gear.
