Default wont start help please

alright i have an 89 lx mustang with a 2.3 liter. i have bassically rebiult the engine in it. it had a blown head gasket, radiator was shot, the valve cover gasket was also done all this was taking out and replaced along with a tune up (wires, plugs, etc.) distributer cap and button was also replaced. i put all of it back together and tryed to start it. it turned ova but it seemed like the timing was off so i went to reset the timng but the bottom crank for the fly wheels will move a little from side to side but wont turn around so that i can set it on its mark it seems like it has compression but i cant brake it loose im not weak either.... i know that the timing is now off but i need to figure out how to brake the compression so i can reset the bottom crank

Yeah, a 2.3 is hard to turn with the spark plugs in (you can literally snap the head off the crank bolt or strip the threads in the crank snout trying) pull the plugs and it should turn over easily, if it doesn't do so then, something's wrong.
