Go to Barnes & Noble alot. There are books from beginners to advanced. Its all about the prep work and having a garage to work in. If you have the extra money its worh while to set up a space at a storage unit for a few months. If you can a good air compressor and some basic tools makes the job quicker. If not you can get buy with elect. Dual action sander, Palm sander, bondo,. Remeber the more research and prep you do the better the final result.
Good Luck, Mevans

I completely agree with Mevans. Read up on it before you start. Knowledge is invaluable! Also, preperation is 90% of a paint job. Any bozo can lay paint! Acquire the necessary tools and have at it! Remember to go slow and take your time. Patience is the key.

And remember rust is further than meets the eye (you didn't say what body work yours needed, but being a '79 up north rust is almost a given.)
