Default Can you put a distributor on a 8 plug efi

I run dirt track. my car is a 84 mustang 2.3 I bought another motor out of a 92 mustang that has 8 plugs and is fuel injected. I will put my 2 bbl carb on it and I was woundering if they make a distributor that will work on the 8 plug set up? The motor has coil packs on it now but i do not have the wiring harness or eec to run coil packs.

I don't think it's possible, there would be 4 eimpty holes in your head. However I think the head from the older style motor will work with the newer block so you can drop your older head on the new block and use the distributor ignition and carb.

I know it is possible I have seen it done but I do not know were to get the parts and what kind of intake I could use to mount a 2 bbrl on . the 4 spark plug intake is smaller. the distrubutor has a rotor button that fires at both ends and the cap has 8 places for plug wires. basicly when wired it would have 1 on one side and directly across from it would have the other plug for one and with the rotor that fires at both ends it would fire both plugs at same time if wired right. I just do not know where to get the cap and rotor.

Check out local salvage yards for the body and shaft of the distributor and a dealership (yeah I know evil lies there) should have what you need as far as a button and rotor.

I'm not sure of an intake to run a 2-bbl. on an 8-plug head. There may be an adapter though. The I'm not sure if they'll work for you, but Ford put 2-bbl. intakes on the Mustang II and Pinto from 74-78. I also know that Racer Walsh and Esslinger both sell adapters to adapt 2-bbl. carbs onto standard EFI manifolds, but I've read somewhere that the 8-plug head has a different port arrangement than the standard EFI 2.3.
