Default Coasting problem among the rest...

I have nothing to compare this to, but here it goes...

My 90' Lx doesn't coast for crap.

I mean, it will go from 45 to 0 in less than 8 seconds, and it is severely hurting my gas mileage. That, and the auto tranny eats up ALL the power while shifting... Not some, ALL... If I could graph out the acceleration, it goes like this...

1000-2000 rpms, decent acceleration
2000-3500 rpms, better acceleration
SHIFTING- car throws forward like I am slamming on the brakes
1000-2000 rpms, same thing

I have ridden in other 2.3s that DONT do this...
Obviously, any car is bound to lose power while shifting (that's sort of how they work), but mine is taking too much...

I was told that its the gear ratios.

Aside from spending 2000$ on tranny parts, what can I do to improve this???

Cool

Check your brakes. Are they dragging? Is your E-brake engaged? The first thing I would do is pull all 4 wheels and see what's going on!
