okay i have 79 2.3 rasn great forever till the timing jumped fixed that and got a whole new dist assembley while i was at it ran better then when i first got it for a while then last night i hit the key drove around and it started to idle low and thern started to idle rough okay thought she was being pissy so sittin in line for b k when she idles really rough like it was missing or only on 3 cylinders finje shut the car off and waited and waited hit the key still doing the same thing so i start to drive home and under accelkeration she knocks like wtf .... any ideas .... i have it running now and it sounds like a washing machine when it does its spin cycle and is off centered .... anyides .... o and timing is still okay twist dist either way and it gets worse

Have you checked the timing chain? sounds like it jumped and timing is off.

ya i checked and they line up perfectly like they did when i changed timing belt on it now it knocks and it still looks timed like wtf ..

My sons just did the same thing,it sounded like it was comming from the top end but it wasnt. The bottom part of the piston skirt broke and it broke the cylinder wall and killed his motor. I hope this not the problem with yours but you cant tell unless you pull the head off.
