Will a 1986 2.3L head work on a 1989 2.3L with efi?

I was wondering if a 86 2.3 head will work on a 89 with efi and if I need to modify it to work? I believe 86 was carb? I can't find the right head at any of the local junk yards but I did find a real clean 86 head and I have it at the machine shop getting cleaned up till I find out if it will work.

Yes it will work with no mods. They are the same.
