got a 94 2.3 ranger head its an 8 plugger,thinking of putting the roller cam/followers from it in my 89n/a 2.3 4plug head,,or should i try using the ranger head and run it with the other 4 emission plugs disabled? i think the 4 plug head flows better,I read that in an article a while back,not sure,,,,thanks

Getting rid of the second set of plugs on a vehicle with a computer set up for dual plugs will only cause you grief. The CEL will constantly remain lit because it can't see the other plugs fire.

Yes, most of the 4 plug heads flow better than the first gen dual plug head, however, the '96 and later dual plug head outflows them all especially at lower valve lifts. Part of the reason is smaller diameter valve stems (an easy way to identify them in the j/y).

Thanks B_Chandler for the info,the 94 cam will be for my 4plugged 89 mustang so it isn't programmed for the eight plug system,, so i'll stick with the original 4 plug head and install the 94 cam/followers,going to port it a little around the valve guide bosses
