Don't stop with just the motor. The ideal situation is to have the entire 5.0 Mustang donor. There's a crapload of junk that has to be swapped. Especially if you keep the EFI. The carb swap lets you get away with keeping some of the 4 cyl. stuff, and the wiring is less critical.

thats right the whole front end has to be swapped with a V* to make up for the weight diffrence, rearend, driveshaft, transmission, motor, wiring harnesses, fuel pump i do beleive,ECU, ect ect, with the time and money invovled in a swap you could buy a 5.0 a cheap one of course but its still a 5.0

That's just the big ticket stuff.

There's the little things that start to pile up quick.

Rear brake line.
A/C lines
Coolant resevoir
Vacuum tree and hose routing
Fuel lines from tank to engine compartment.
Fuel pump too I believe.

And yes. The ECU has to be changed.

Thats true its the little things that kill in the end thats why you find a wrecked 5.0 and do your swap

Yes, it's alot easier in the long run if V8s are your thing. Stay away from the 351C. While in it's day it was a badass, the aftermarket has all but given up on it. The Windsor motors were in production long after the Cleveland ceased to be and the aftermarket has embraced the 302 and 351 much like they have the small block Chevy. There ain't much you can't get for a W motor.

I just helped a friend build a Cleveland for his wife's '70 Mach I. Everything was way more expensive for the Cleveland than it would have been if it were a Windsor. He wanted to buy a new crank, but most if not all of the aftermarket cranks are some sort of Windsor variant that can be fitted into a Cleveland by changing the front cover and some other crap. A drop-in just wasn't to be had.
