Ok, so I have been reading this for the past little while and its just a bucket of confusion. Good/Bad? Do I try this or not. I dont have a problem ripping anything apart, but it is the weekend and I would like to drive lol. Thanks
Runs well, didnt turn into a rocket or anything but i get up to 100km (60mph) about 2 or 3 seconds faster then I did before. Sounds a little nicer around 4000 rpm as well. Doesnt seem to have any Idle drop. actually notices its idling about 100rpm higher then before oddly. If it runs well for the week I will likely throw on some stainless pipe and try and get a conic filter on the end. Let me know if you know what to do with those hoses coming out of the air box. I believe they are responsible for sending hot air to the engine when it is damn cold out. And since we are both stuck in the "north" this will be important when it snows.
Alright let me know if you add the stainless steel pipe because thats what makes mine idle real low and therefore it dies. One of the vaccume lines gets taken out with the whole air box and the other one you just plug it. Also the hose coming out the header you can remove as well.

I've been going through quite a couple pages and I was wondering.. what does this help with? Is it worth doing? My engine doesn't have any problems but I've heard you can get better MPG and such. (To add to that, I don't have a turbo)
What year Mustang do you have? Because on my 91 it doesn't work as I've said before on previous posts. Since it has the MAF sensor.. but who knows, it might work if yours has it. If you just remove the silencer. I think the metallic tube I used instead of removing the air intake silencer (I thought it would have been easier this way) gave me a lot of revolutions. Since when removing the air intake silencer it will still have the smaller diameter at the ends I assume. Therefore it has less revolutions? I can't remember but hopefully someone else with the MAF sensor, who's done this before can help out.
And yes it does increase gas mileage by 1 or 2 mpg but anything helps. Also you get a little better acceleration since its less restricted now.

so im interested in doing this on my 1990 but, what should i gut the air silencer, or replace it with pvc pipe, intake pipe or what... ive read this thread and cant decide which is best...
I think either one will give you the results you want. For me I went the PVC route because I felt like, if I ever needed to for some reason, I could just slap the air silencer back in and have it all back original. But the truth is it sat on my shelf for about 5 years and then I chucked it in the trash.

im a poor teenager, do you know any more free or cheap mods, that are fairly simple to do. i read the mod thread but but idk if any of them i would be able to afford or be able to do myself
can you guys post pics of the PVC mod.. i cant figure out how i want to do it.. are you still running your stock air box? or did you switch.. cause i want to keep the stock air box, but i dont want the stock tube to there
